A cross between 'Purple Sensation' and Allium cristophii. Allium 'Purple Rain' is a highly reliable and increasingly popular summer flowering Allium which produces rich deep purple globes on tall sturdy stems. The large open flower heads grow up to 15 cm and are made up of small star-shaped purple flowers. Ideal for garden beds in large drifts, 10-15 bulbs.
It remains ornamental in the garden well into summer. Good cut flower in fresh and dried arrangements. Favorite of bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
