Ornamental onion (Allium) 'Firmament'

Hybrid between Allium atropurpureum and Allium cristophii. Beautiful Allium with strong stem, greygreen leaves and flowerhead that is only two-thirds of the sphere, about 10-12 cm wide. It is packed with star-shaped, dark silvery purple flowers, each flower being comprised of dark purple florets adorned with shimmering silver anthers. It remains ornamental in the garden well into summer. Good cut flower in fresh and dried arrangements.
Favorite of bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
