This onion forms a sheathed bulb ("root-stalk") about the thickness of a finger and 5–8 cm long. Leaves with short leaf stem are broad and green, flowers atop strong stems are whitish green. This plant is edible. Grows well underneath and between trees and shrubs, potager, rock garden and garden beds.
