Little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) 'Blaze'

Schizachyrium scoparium ‘Blaze’ grows in an upright shape and sports blue green foliage in summer. In fall, fiery colors appear—strong reds, purples, and hints of orange and pink. This cultivar was developed in 1967 as a high-yield pasture grass in Nebraska. It has since entered the nursery world because of outstanding fall beauty. ‘Blaze’ maintains the useful attributes of Little Bluestem, such as tolerance to drought and infertile soil.
